Baguio History
– In the first half
of the 19th century, Baguio’s natural beauty and charm
wasn’t too remote for the Spaniards to explore. The promising economic
potentials of Baguio motivated series of Spanish expeditions. The Spanish
colonial government had numerous encounters with fierce tribes before
finally being able to establish authority in Baguio.
The Americans too
discovered Baguio’s potential as a future city.
They found a great source of water, carved and designed Baguio as
the future summer capital of the Philippines. On November 1900, first
civil government of Benguet was established.
A rest and recreation camp, later known as Camp John Hay, was built
in Baguio. On June 1, 1903, the Philippine Commission named Baguio the
summer capital of the Philippines. Kennon
Road was built 3 years later.
Baguio
became a chartered city on September 1, 1909.
Baguio prospered before World War II.
Bombings destroyed Baguio but rose quickly from the ruins as a
strong commercial and educational hub. Baguio until today has always been
a great mountain resort as Americans planned and built it to be. A unique
city in an altitude of 1,500 meters above sea level, Baguio is the
Philippines’ recreation center of choice.

THE CONCEPT:
"Hope we could
own such a lovely vacation house!", typical comment we get from our
guests. Because our business model is built on the concept of bringing to our
guests a lodging, a hotel, an inn, that "feels like home". It's like
having your own vacation house in Baguio -- without the hassles and costs of
owning. You use it as you use hotel or inn, only when you need it.

MORE NOT LESS:
A fine place to
stay. Utmost privacy. Service and facilities with attention to smallest details
to ensure fine, pleasant stay. The vacation house is private, no signage, no
"for rent" signs. We adopt a policy of selective site map disclosure.
Like upscale hotel or inn, you get clean, well-maintained facilities. However
more than normal hotel or inn, we provide full-living amenities, even kitchen
wares and dinner wares, for instance, if guests so choose to cook, and
really spend quality time with the family -- in a vacation house that's truly a
fine place to stay.
